KaleidoVision In-App Demo Video

KaleidoVision is a unique, interactive media player in the Photo & Video category. The app utilizes touch-screen capabilities to trigger and control psychedelic, kaleidoscopic mirror effects during video playback. Users can create, save and replay their creations without ever duplicating or altering their original video content in any way.

KaleidoVision makes everyone a VJ and version 1 is just the beginning. New filters, filter mixing and layering, plus a slew of other improvements are on their way.

The app will be on sale for a limited time for $1.99 and is regularly priced at $4.99. All upgrades and add-ons will be FREE. The app’s developers are neither interested in or planning on charging users microfees for multiple add-ons. They are, however, exploring a significantly priced professional VJ add-on.

Scott J Bailey, creator/creative director, is available to answer questions at (206)755-6571 or scott@kaleidovision.tv

On Friday, September 30th, The KaleidoVision App was submitted to the iTunes Store with the assumption that we could be waiting anywhere from 5 days to 5 weeks for Apple’s approval. However long we might be waiting, the notice we recieved in reply was exciting none the less…

“The status for the following app has changed to WAITING FOR REVIEW.”

Although it didn’t change our expectations much, on Wednesday, October 5th at 4pm, we got our second notice from Apple saying…

“The status for the following app has changed to IN REVIEW.”

Then, 20 hours later, we got the next status update…

“The status for the following app has changed to PROCESSING FOR APP STORE.”

Needless to say, we were ecstatic! And now under the gun with a lot to accomplish to face the world! 13 minutes later the final notice arrived informing us that…

“The following app has been approved. The status has changed to READY FOR SALE.”

…when the concept for KaleidoVision was still just a twinkle in it’s creators’ eye, Scott J Bailey posted a blog entry worth sharing with you here…

-begin entry-

“KaleidoVision meet Pocket God, Pocket God meet KaleidoVision”

“A few days ago a friend of KaleidoVision says “Hey man, Guy Seese knows Allan Dye, you know, the creator of Pocket God? You should give him a call and see if he can’t connect you guys.”

Pocket God (in case you’ve recently been struck by lightening yourself, or are trapped and living under a rock), was the number one app for weeks on end and only recently began to lose some ground. It’s #6 as of today [may 12th, 2009] and I suspect, with the updates that Allan and his partner, Dave Castelnuovo, at Bolt Creative have in store, Pocket God could rise back up again. Regardless, it’s safe to say that Pocket God will be in the top 25 for a long time coming.

So I followed through, shot Allan an email with a link to the KaleidoVision Demos and, of course, I was thrilled when I heard back from Allan “Scott… the demo and app looks awesome…looks like you have a winner.” And then we scheduled a phone conversation for later today. (Counting the minutes now)

…
What do Pocket God and Kaleid-O-Vision have in common? They’re both “Experience Apps.” There really is no point to them, other than entertainment. Some people call Pocket God a game, but it’s not. You don’t get a score. You don’t compete with other players or even yourself. You simply enjoy it. Pocket God and Kaleid-O-Vision are simply cool & fun for the sake of being cool & fun. In that sense they’re like the FINE ART of the App-O-Sphere. Koi Pond? Same difference. Also in the top apps for eons.

ALL HAIL POCKET GOD, Allan Dye, Dave Castelnuovo and Bolt Creative. You’re certainly all my heroes!

check out http://pocketgod.blogspot.com

-end of entry-

Which was followed by only two comments. The first from Scott himself…

“So I just got off a 90 minute call with Allan Dye. I have to say, this is one of the nicest, most open and honest people I’ve met in my iPhone development journey.

Thanks Allan! For all the advice and information. Your transparency is refreshing and your success is inspiring.

Cheers!
Scott”

And the second from Allan Dye himself…

“Hey Scott! It was good talking to you. Hope the information is helpful. Your demo and concept here is a winner for sure! Keep me posted and best of luck!”

Allan’s advice and the confidence he expressed in our concept added fuel to the fire when we needed it most. Needless to say, later this week, we’ll be sending Allan Dye one of our promo Apps to say thanks again for the confidence boost and all of the kind words!
